Recipe Of The Week
Greens
½ lb. Beet greens
½ lb. Turnip Greens
some green garlic, minced
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons sunflower seeds,
toasted
Toss greens, garlic and oil in
large sauce pan or skillet. Cover
and saute until greens are just wilted.
Add a splash of water if necessary to prevent greens from sticking to
the pan. Toast sunflower seeds in
dry skillet or hot oven for several minutes, tossing often and stir into
greens.
WhatŐs
Going On?
Hello folks!
I wanted to first let you all know that the farm will be featured at the
Lantern Restaurant this Sunday night.
The Lantern, which is usually closed on Sundays, opens to feature a
specific farm every now and again.
There is a set menu with all the vegetables coming from the farm. Check out the Lantern website at www.lanternrestaurant.com to learn
more about the dinner and to see some pictures that are posted there of my
farm. If you are interested in
going, I am, and would look forward to seeing you there!
I
am thinking of hosting another CSA workday here on the farm either Sunday May
28th or Sunday June 4th. Please email me with your
preference if you have one, and I will let you all know the date for sure in
next weeks newsletter.
I
am excited about the new group listserve that was just created. A good number of you have asked to be
signed up for the listserve, and I think I still actually need to add some of
your names to it, but have added most.
Lets get some conversation going!
Also, I am sorry I was a day late on sending out the early notification
email this week, this is going to just take me getting used to it, sometimes I
am not totally sure on Mondays exactly what you all will be getting, but I
guess in that case I can always send you a tentative list.
What
To Look Forward To....
There
is a lot to look forward to right now as the later spring crops are starting to
reach maturity. The broccoli is
starting to head up, and I am pretty sure that we will have enough of it next
week to give to everyone. We may
have to wait two weeks though for enough of them to reach maturity, hopefully
not though. The cauliflower is
coming on as well, carrots (orange, red, yellow) are all doing well and will be
in boxes most likely by next week.
That is all for now, look forward to chatting with those of you I see at
market, and please, donŐt forget to email me with any feedback. Thanks! Elise.
